B+W_dodge+burn action

Especially for ~Serephiminelysium

This is the first thing I do when I'm going to be making a colour shot into a black and white one. Basically if you use the action and then set a black brush at around 10-15% opacity on the burn layer and a white on the dodge layer you can dodge and burn with out destroying the original image. The other thing is that if you make a mistake you just have to paint over in the opposite colour I.E. If you make a mistake painting in black on the burn layer then just paint in white over it and it will go!

Personally I use the dodge and burn brushes set to different exposures and shadows midtones etc on these layers but if your gonna try it then I would suggest starting out with a normal brush first.

Remember to click the eyes on and off on the layers to see how your going, its amazing the difference you make without noticing!

I hope this may be of use to people.

And just so people know, the channel mixer is set to monochrome and then settings of 30%, 30% and 40%. You may want to play with these settings in the channel mixer after using the action or making it yourself but I find it best to keep things totalling 100%

To use the action just simply bring out the flip menu on the actions window and choose load action and then "play" it. It doesnt have to be put in a certain folder but there is one under presets in your photoshop folder if you do want to keep and and keep things tidy.
