Devious Journal Entry

Just wanted to change the journal that I had up as it really was out of date. Things are pretty hectic my end at the moment with a change of job on the list of things to cope with. Im going to be working in a new resturant that is opening at the end of August and will be a quite high class traditional English restaurant but in the mean time because of the delays I am working in the owners other restaurant that is a huge Italian place serving about 300 people a night from a tiny kitchen. Now Im a more fine dining chef (with a rosette to prove it, although rosettes are bollocks really) so its a bit different for me but its fun, I have to switch off a little to the quality of the food but at the end of the day its bloody busy so they must be doing something right and everone likes pizza and pasta right?

As far as photography goes things have slowed down a little because of the work load but Im trying to get out as much as possible. Im sure that you can tell Im still enjoying infrared and I hope you arent getting too bored of that.

I hope that some of you may be interested in seeing some shots of the new restuarant I will be working in once its finished. We are having a baby grand piano and cool things like that so it will be a beautiful place to be.

Also due to the fact that I have wanted to keep in touch with the people in the place I just left I have made a Facebook.com page so if your on it then add me?! (Dave Giles, Southampton, England)

I hope this journal finds you all well.

Oh and on a final note. I have just got CS3 which has some great new additions but the infrared filter on the black and white conversion filter is just awful!

A quick update

Chances are that not many will read this but I wanted to put up a quick update as to whats going on with me.

As I'm sure those who take the time to watch me will know, Ive bought a new camera. And of course, due to my new found interest inside the world of photography, its an infrared modified and dedicated one! This means that at the moment Im pretty much shooting everything in the invisible colour spectrum. For me its still really exciting and the world of IR still holds so much. For others on here I do realise that infrared photography does seem to have its boundaries. Basically it means landscapes with trees in white to alot of people. I still love to shoot the stereotypical landscapes too but because I know they are limited if alot are seen at once I have decided to limit my deviations at the moment so as not to bore everyone. I still follow the ideal that I post what I like and not what others may fave or comment on but I do feel I dont want to saturate peoples DEVwatches.

On the subject of DEVwatches I am now gettting around 40 deviations a day to look at and I do pay attention to every single one. So I hope that those who think I may be ignoring them in comments understand that its too hard to comment on every deviation but I still look at you and love your work. Every person I watch is worth it!

Ive also made a decision to stop saying "thanks for the fave" on peoples front pages as to be honest and not wanting to sound arrogant, this is taking up a good deal of time too. So please, if you do fave me, realise that I do honestly appreciate it.

Well thats it for now I guess. I hope this finds you all well.

Oh and I have an idea for a competition!! Keep your eyes peeled for my next journal.

Free Features!!!! (update 4)

  • Drinking: Oh yes! Lots!
Whore yourself on my page!

Those who watch me will know that since the sun has come out where I live I have become slightly addicted to infra red photography. During a look around other IR works on DA I stumbled across a new person to watch who had a great idea for a journal (or I thought so anyhoo). *RedStonePhoto's journal was simple. Ask to be featured in a list of ten and you got it! The only rule being that you also do a journal along the same lines featuring him in tenth place.

I thought it was a really good idea so I am now keeping my end of the bargain.

So its simple..... I am featuring 10 people in this journal, to get a feature simply ask an I will put up 3 pieces of my choice. But dont worry, I just like to feature people so I wont be asking you to continue the trend. (Of course if you WANT to then thats cool!)

1. Your work here
2. Your work here
3. ~gadjoX:icongadjox:
4. The truly wonderful =amarand:iconamarand:
5. =ProxyDave:iconproxydave:
6. ~geof:icongeof:

7. ~sags:iconsags:

8. ~Serephiminelysium:iconserephiminelysium:. Ive known this guy on here over a year and I still not dare try to pronounce his ID!

9. *density-tmr:icondensity-tmr:

10. *RedStonePhoto:iconredstonephoto:

On other news, those who watch me may remember I often put new menus up that I write for work. Cant be arsed this time but was happy to find out that I earned a rossette in the AA guide for the place I last worked at. Im sure they arent too happy with seeing my name in the guide as I walked out but life goes on.
